PAINTING
Joanne says "Nature has always been my source of inspiration, whether it is with the colors in abstracts or watercolor paintings of local birds and vegetation.
My watercolors are influenced by classes taken with several Chinese artists. I continue to explore the fluidity of watercolor and strive to capture the energy of nature's ever changing imagery.
I use acrylic paint as a medium for my abstracts and refer to color combinations in nature.
With careful manipulation, sometimes only using my hands, I allow the paint to pool and flow creating the natural abstractions. Some of the most exciting areas can be rather small, so sometimes I photograph and enlarge certain areas creating imaginary landscapes.”
Joanne has lived in Bloomington most of her life. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a member of Watercolor Society of Indiana, Bloomington Watercolor Society and the Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington.
