Brown County Woodworks

I began woodworking while in college in 1969. My first pieces were simple candle holders because I found college women thought they were cool.
Later, after college, I worked as a carpenter’s helper where I learned basic skills for building furniture. In 1976 my wife, Leslie, got me a radial arm saw for Christmas. That was my very first large tool and that is when I decided to get good at making furniture. The next 20 years or so were a dizzying blur of buying more tools, reading many different types of woodworking articles and perfecting my skills.

Today, my interests in wood are many and varied. I have designed, and made, higher end dining rooms and bedrooms. I also enjoy making simple, comfortable outdoor furniture and rustic tables, benches, and gliders and almost anything in between.
My newest interest began in 2006 while finishing our Brown County home. I built our custom kitchen cabinets. They were a challenge to build, but I found them to be just plain fun. My kitchen cabinets were a special attraction when our home was featured in the 2009 Brown County Log Home Tour. My second set of kitchen cabinets are featured in a Nashville home which was on the 2009 Brown County Historical Society Historical Homes Tour. My third set of kitchen cabinets are in process as of this February, 2010 writing.

Thanks for reading my bio. It has been a fun and nostalgic journey over the past 40+ years.
