Jerry England is a retired Professor and coach from the University Of Indianapolis. He took up pottery late in life, having been introduced to it by his son, Gary, and daughter, Christi, both art majors in college.
He was encouraged by Loran Hill, his instructor at the Indianapolis Art Center, to enter art shows and has since won:

2000 - 1st Place - Indiana State Fair

2000 - Best of Ceramics - Indianapolis Art Center

2001 - Owen Award for Merit - Indpls. Art Center

2001 - Two Governor's Awards - Indiana State Fair

2002 - 2nd Place - Indiana State Fair

2003 - 3rd Place - Indiana State Fair

2004 - 1st & 3rd Place - Indiana State Fair

2005 - 2nd & 4th Place - Indiana State Fair

2005 - Award for Merit - So. Ind. Conf. for the Arts

2006 - Best of Ceramics - Indianapolis Art Center

2007 - 1st & 3rd Place - Indiana State Fair

2008 - 1st & 3rd Place - Indiana State Fair

2009 - 1st & 2nd Place - Indiana State Fair

He works out of his home studio in Brown County. There he continues to try new ideas by altering shapes and sizes, combining thrown pieces with slab pieces in a non-functional way. You will note that each piece is a unique but pleasing-to-the-eye work of art using the Raku glazing technique.

Creating new pottery pieces continues to be his passion.
